PPB --> NYC (video).

For some reason today I was feeling like getting into my "artsy" side.  I kind of didn't really know I had one, but when I get an idea, I always like to try my hardest to do what I can to create it.  I think that's one of the biggest keys to becoming successful, thinking and dreaming and then doing.

Enough with the rambling I guess.  I woke up this morning with the urge to film little bits of my commute and then smash it into one video.  I figured that there was no real way of getting every single moment of it into a video, but a little bit is perfectly fine.  I tried to get some pretty cool shots for you guys and I think it came out pretty cool.  I wouldn't trade my commute into the city for anything.  I love where I live and I love the city, so it's a perfect combination.

Mascara Madness, Round 2

I recently went to the drugstore to pick up a couple of things that I needed, ya know, the essentials.  I never pegged myself as an "obsessed with mascara" girl, but I have done two posts about how much I love mascara and I really haven't talked about any other type of make-up like this.  With that being said, lets get on with this post about two mascaras that I have recently been obsessed with.

First, I saw the Scandals Eyes by Rimmel Show Off mascara and I immediately put that in my cart.  I tend to like most of the Rimmel mascara with Sexy Curves being my absolute favorite.  What I love most about this mascara right off the bat is the brush.  The brush is quite a large, far brush with a ball on the end that allows you to reach the inner corners of the lashes.  I like this because I cannot stand using the entire mascara brush to try and inch my way into the inner corner, my makeup always ends up look wonky and messy.  I do enjoy this mascara a lot but the one downfall I would say that it has is it's inability to hold a curl.

Girls, hold onto your hats, Maybelline has done it again.  I absolutely love this mascara.  One thing you may notice straight away is the fact that there are two ends and two brushes.  The mascara has one side for your lower lashes and one for your top lashes.  This is absolutely wonderful and I have noticed that this formula volumizes your lashes and keeps them this way for the entire day.  The long-wearing factor of the formula is a huge plus for me because I don't tend to curl my lashes before I apply mascara and this absolutely holds a curl.

The lower lash brush is absolutely perfect.  The top lash brush is like a magically standard mascara wand, while the tiny little brush gets right into your lower lash line and coats every lash.  The formula really allows the eyes to look awake and open and makes for very easy application.

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried these mascaras.  Send me a tweet and tell me if you would try them out after reading the review.  Thanks for reading!

Valentino Dreams?

There's something that should probably be said about the fact that I had a dream about these Valentino heels.  I don't really know where it came from but I literally was dreaming about having a pair of these heels (specifically in tan) and walking around at a party with them.  I can be honest and say that I have never owned a pair of shoes like this before and I never was one to want them.  After waking up from this dream though, I all of a sudden am obsessed and want them tomorrow.

Nail Detox Necessary!

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in nail art and what is most popular in the now, we tend to forget about whats best for our nails.  I know that sometimes I can definitely fall victim of this because I get obsessed and you all know how much I love nail art.

I recently have decided to give my nails a little rest.  I didn't know how long the "nail detox" was going to last, but I said to myself that I would kind of do it until the nails looked significantly healthier and a little more even.  I should have taken a before and after picture, but this is a photo after about two weeks of not painting them at all.

Every once in a while I will file them but I have not been putting ANY products on them at all.  This means no cuticle oils, no top/base coats, nothing.  The only thing I have been doing is filing them and of course using hand lotion.

I have to say, it has worked wonders.  I wasn't sure how this was going to work because I never had heard anyone talk about doing it or anything.  What made me take the plunge to not paint my nails or treat them for a while is that it seems like common sense that if you leave them alone and let them breathe, they will slowly come back to life and look healthier and that is truly what I have found.

Now I know that I'm sure you can just as easily go to the salon and have a manicure done, but I decided to go the more natural and organic way and it is so much more rewarding.  Let me know if you have done this or plan on doing it at all.  Send me a tweet or let me know in the comments below!

Caring For Your Skin in the Sun

I know there are a ton of things that we think about in the summer regarding our beauty routine.  The most important thing though is making sure that our skin is completely protected and moisturized before and after being out in the sun.  Now if any of you knew me outside of this blog, you would probably scrutinize me for writing this post because you would know that I have been horrible almost all my life with sunscreen application and skin protection from the sun.  When I was a little girl, my dad would have to tie me down and put sunscreen on me because I never wanted to wear it.  When I became older though, I got a job at the beach and started to think that maybe I should wear it more.  Up until last year, I rarely ever wore it.  This is a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE idea.  Do not ever go a day without sunscreen.  I am dead serious, it is really scary to think about what could happen if you don't later it on and repeat every once in a while.

With that being said, I know this post probably looks like a sponsored one from Raybans and Hawaiian Tropic.  I am sad to say it is not, hahaha.  I just love these products  (I haven't tried the oil yet, but we will talk about that soon).  When I started becoming more of an avid sunscreen wearer, the first brand that I went to was Hawaiian Tropic.  The reason I was drawn to it was because of the scent, I love anything coconut or tropical.  If I was going to force myself/ease myself into wearing sunscreen, I might as well get something that I loved.  The sunscreen is very moisturizing and smells great.  It protects your skin from the sun and it actually makes you want to reapply because it's a great experience altogether.  The after sun lotion is awesome.  I have previously tried another brand and this one trumps all.  The one component that I love most though, is how soothing it is on the skin after being sun drenched all day long.  With a combination of shea/cocoa butter and aloe, it makes your skin feel amazing and so tolerable after getting a little too much sunburn throughout the day.

The oil I have not tried yet.  I don't recommend this or any oil if you have sensitive skin or very light skin that burns easily.  This may seem obvious, but if you apply oil, it clings to your skin and will fry it.  This might be gross, but think about how oil fries food, nasty!  We do not want our skin on fire.

Very important of course is protecting your eyes.  Try and get sunglasses that are polarized, this is very important.  If they aren't, that's okay.  These are also just very nice to have because they make your day a little more bearable.  It is VERY easy to get a headache when sitting in the sun all day long without glasses on.  Not good!

One more quick tip I can give for staying in the sun all day is to make sure that you are staying hydrated.  The best defense other than sunscreen is drinking water or gatorade while you are in the sun.  Try and stay away from sugary drinks because they don't hydrate you as well as natural, pure beverages do.  Also, don't deprive yourself of food.  If you are hungry eat something, hear exhaustion is not cute.

Let me know what you guys have to beat the heat and make sure you're not getting friend.  Leave some love in the comments below or send a tweet my way.  I hope you are having a great day and I will talk to you soon!  Thank you so much for reading.

Bobbi Brown Beach Perfume!?

OMG.  Could I possibly want anything more than I want this perfume right now?  I don't think so.  I must have this ASAP, no joke.

I think I am going to have to go ahead and splurge on this.  I have to go to the store and smell it first, but Amarixe says that it smells just like Coppertone.  If it does, I'm in!  I am so excited to see.  What do you guys think?  Would you try a "sunscreen-y" perfume?  Send me a tweet and let me know.
