Sugar Skull Manicure.

Who doesn't love a good Sugar Skull manicure?  I got inspiration from The Wah Nails Book of Downtown Girls which I absolutely love.  I have had another edition of the book before and took tons of inspiration from it including many of my floral manicures.  The book has tons of different textured nail designs and manicure variations.  You can take inspiration from it and create your own or replicate one exactly.  Check out the book if you haven't already.

I have used "Office" by American Apparel and several different Sinful Colors nail stripers.  I also topped off the design with Revlon's "Multi-Care Base+Top Coat," which I absolutely love and will have another post on in the future.  If I had to say one thing about my take on the creation, I would have changed the way I made the teeth.  They clearly need to be a bit more flat, they look like a football.

Thank you so much for reading and checking out the blog!  I hope you all enjoyed.  Send me a tweet with a picture so I can see what you've created.  Talk to you soon.

In the Mood for Nude?

As I've discussed with you previously, I decided to go ahead and do a bit of a "nail detox."  I found that it really benefited my nails and I continue to feel results.  I don't know, but I guess the lack of polish for a while really let my nails breathe because now they grow longer and stronger.  Not only have I noticed the change in the way they grow, but they stay that way for longer.  The overall benefits from a nail detox are awesome.

With that being said, over the past couple of weeks I have decided to start painting my nails again because ya know, who can really live without polish for THAT long?  Last night I decided to try Glow by Orly again.  I hadn't painted my nails with this color in a while but I was just in the mood for nude.  (Hahah, ew).

I decided to post a photo regular and a photo with the flash.  The color is obviously more true in the photo with the flash and I absolutely love it.  The color payoff is the perfect nude and absolutely appropriate for the office.  What I love most about Orly polish is that in one coat, it's opaque.  I always do two or three coats just for the heck of it, but you really only need one with this polish.

This is the first time I am trying the Revlon Multi-Care Base+Top Coat.  I have to say so far that I like it.  I love the shine that it brings to the nail and it's keeping the polish on.  I have only had it on though for one day, so look out for maybe another post with a full review.  One thing that I have to say about the application is that it does take a while to dry, but that's okay with me.  As long as it does the job, I will wait a little longer for the drying process (as annoying as it is, it's worth it).

Thank you for reading and I will talk to you soon!  As always, follow me on Twitter for updates and let me know what you've been wearing on your nails lately.  What top coats do you use?  Suggestions!

Spiced Chick Peas.

So if you're looking at the above photo thinking, "Uhhh, Brittany, what is that," it's fine, I don't blame you at all.  This is another attempt at me trying to share with you some of the interesting healthy snacks and foods that I have been eating ever since I have changed my diet.

These are actually just chick peas.  I absolutely love chick peas and I love hummus as well.  All you need to do to make this quick snack is open a can of chick peas and rinse them off in a strainer.  Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.  Get a baking sheet and lay the chick peas in a light application of olive olive.  Make sure they are evenly spread out on the sheet and apply spices.  Put the chick peas in the oven for about 25-35 minutes, until they are crispy and crunchy.  You can use any spices you'd like and you can even try it with something sweet like cinnamon and sugar.  I haven't tried that yet, but you never know!  I feel like it would be delicious.

Thanks so much for reading.  What do you guys enjoy eating for healthy snacks?  Send me a tweet or leave a comment below.  Talk to you soon.

Polyvore Looooooove.

I all of a sudden have been into my Polyvore again for the past two days.  I always look at sets on other websites and everything, but I haven't made my own in the longest time.  I have made two sets here that are pretty cool and make me really inspired for the fall.  I cannot wait to start wearing fall fashion again and I have kind of already started.  Ahhhhhh.

Take a look at what I've created and go on over and follow me!  Thank you for reading, I will talk to you all soon!  Be sure to follow me on twitter and leave a comment below.

Recent Favorites.

I don't know about you, but I honestly cannot believe that August is more than half over.  To me, it's a little strange this year because I wont be going back to school being that I have graduated.  I wanted to share somethings with you that I have been loving lately.  Some of these products are repeat offenders to the blog and some of them might be newer, but regardless of their status, I have been obsessed lately.  Let's get started!

This is probably a little bit wierd to be seeing here.  No, I do not have a child, I just absolutely LOVE baby wipes and here is why.  As you can just as easily skip off to the drugstore and pick up some makeup remover wipes, you can purchase baby wipes that do the same job for way less.  They also last so much longer and do not irritate your skin at all.  After all, they are made for babies.

My three favorite nail polishes lately have been making my mood.  Honestly, it's so true that coloring your nails with certain hues can totally change your mood.  Sometimes just looking at something in a nice neutral or bright color can make you so much happier.

The first color is Lady Like by Essie.  The color is a muted purple and just generally makes me happy because it's a purple without being completely obnoxious.  The second color is Smoky Canvas is by Revlon.  Although it is a gray color, it is nice and neutral and definitely acceptable for the office.  The third color is one by Essie called In The Cab-Ana that I know I've talked about on here before.  This is such a feel good color and it's completely perfect for summertime.

I talked about the Nars Smudgeproof Shadow base recently.  This is by far the best base I have tried so far being that I've tried Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Benefit Stay Don't Stray, Mac Paintpoints and I know I have tried more that I can't even remember.  I heard about the primer from Miss Glamorazzi on YouTube and hesitated buying it at first.  It was only after I purchased it that I realized it was an 100 point perk at Sephora which made me really mad!  That would be a tip from me to you:  If you want to try something, make sure you see what samples you can get!  The primer makes my shadows last hours longer than any other primer would and highlights the vibrancy of the pigment in the shadows themselves.

The concealer is in the shade ginger.  I love the consistency and coverage of the formula because it covers dark circles and when set, it lasts a pretty long-ish time.  This might sound bizarre, but the concealer as a whole is very soft on my skin and I enjoy the payoff of it.

The Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew is fabulous.  I love the way it smells, the coverage and the lasting power is pretty cool.  This is just an easy and light, minimal coverage, summer-appropriate foundation.  The Cargo blush is in the shade Laguna.  I love this color because its bright orange and amazing for summer.  Summer is truly the only time you can get away with wearing a color like this, if we're being real.  I would suggest applying the color with a light hand because once it's on, it really does not come off at all.

Rimmel's Stay Matte powder is great.  I know I have talked about this before and as you can see I have hit pan and normally this takes me a while.  I have pretty much been using this every single day since I have picked it up.  I love the formula and the coverage is really light, but enough to set your BB cream of choice or even your foundation.

The Sonia Kashuk lip color is a deep plum and although fall is just around the corner with summer still hanging in there, I have been enjoying it.  I don't normally tend to follow trend rules with lip color and nail polish, so I don't mind wearing it whenever.

The Cover Girl Clump Crusher mascara has not always been one of my favorites.  I remember hearing a ton of positive feedback about it and I always wondered why so I ended up purchasing it.  I used it for the first time and I was not impressed so I stopped using it for a while.  I went back to it probably about a month later and I have been using it for about a month now.  I don't know why, but I actually like the way it makes your eyes look open, awake and it does take out the clumps pretty well.

Everyone that knows me in knows that I love bows.  I wear them all the time and some of my favorites are red, white and blue.  I recently picked up this small faux leather bow at Forever 21 at a stunning price of $2.80 which was a breath of fresh air because my American Apparel bows always cost between $10 and $16.  I am okay with that price and I fell in love instantly.

The Aveeno Nourish and Condition Leave-In Conditioner is absolutely amazing.  Another product that I know I've spoken about before, this does the best job that I have ever tried.  Thinking that it couldn't really do any better, I randomly added a little bit of Moroccan Oil that I had laying around in my room to the already fabulous formula and it is the best treatment that I have ever purchased.  Easily available at the drugstore for about $7, the product cures split ends and makes your hair overall feel amazingly soft and healthy.

Ponds Dry Skin Cream has been my favorite for the past couple of months and I have been using it as my moisturizer.  I was hooked on Aveeno's daily moisturizer and I still do absolutely love it but when I ran out of it, I tried Ponds and fell instantly in love.  I apply the cream at night and in the morning my face is amazingly smooth, soft and moisturized.

I have really been loving all of the shadows in my Naked palette by Urban Decay and my MAC pro palette that I created myself.  I have had both palettes for a while now but they are awesome neutral palettes that have shades perfect for nighttime and intensifying and for during the day.

I hope you guys have really enjoyed my recent favorites.  What have you been loving lately?  Let me know in the comments below or send me a tweet.  Thanks so much for reading!

Another Floral Manicure!

It's no secret that I love floral anything.  You can most definitely tell from everything on this blog that whether its a floral dress or manicure (or even shoes), I will most likely love it.  For today's nails, I used a Revlon polish called Surf.  For the stripers, I used Sinful Colors pink, dark pink, purple, light green and dark green.  I first decided what kind of design I wanted to make and then free-handed, drew the flower on.

A couple of tips:

The key here is to make your design very slowly.

If you want to create something that has multiple colors (like I've done here) work in layers.

When you're done, make sure you put a top coat on it.  You've worked hard getting creative, you don't want it to get ruined!

Products used:

Deborah Lippmann: Addicted to Speed
Revlon: Surf
Assorted Sinful Colors Stripers

Thanks so much for reading.  Share with me in the comments or on Twitter what you have been creating lately.  Talk to you soon!

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is Perfection.

I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned before that I have oily eyelids.  I don't know why this happens, but I guess it's just genetics or something.  Because of this, I always tend to have a problem getting my eyeshadows to stay all day and it really annoys me.  I love eyeshadows so much and I have a really small lid so normally I only put one color on and don't bother putting anything in the crease.  I just find that generally my makeup tends to look so much better with one crease due to exactly that: the size of my lid.

After trying a couple of different methods to try and get my shadows to stick, I heard Missglamorazzi talking about Nars' Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base.  I was a little reluctant just because I already tried so many other products that did absolutely nothing for me and I wasn't ready to spend money on something that I was pretty sure wouldn't work.  Sense Ingrid herself has oily eyelids though, I took the advice and I went and purchased the shadow base.

Now don't get me wrong, the price is pretty steep but once we get to the explaining, I will justify it for you.  Coming in at $24, I was not at all impressed with the price point but sense I had been thinking about buying it for so long, I just bit the bullet and cashed in at Sephora.

Now that I have probably been using the product for about a month, maybe a little bit less, I can tell you that it was 100% worth it.  Usually with products its better to use it for a couple of days maybe even a couple of weeks to know if you like it but with something like eyeshadow primer, you can usually tell after the first day.  I immediately noticed that at the end of the day my eyeshadow was STILL ON my lid.  I was astounded because everything I previously tried had never lasted that long.

I noticed that my shadow's life was extended so much and almost all of the color that I had applied in the morning, was there at night.  The vibrancy of the color was the same that it was in the beginning as well.  The strong bond of the base to the eyelid most definitely allowed the color to last longer and the quality of the eyeshadows to shine right through.

If you're having trouble with oily eyelids, definitely give this one a try.  Even if you don't have the same problem, this would probably work even better on you.  Trust me when I say that I've tried so many different types of eyeshadow bases and primers for the lids and this one definitely trumps them all.  Thank you for reading and make sure to check out my YouTube channel for some outfit of the days.    Also, leave a comment below or send me a tweet and let me know what eyeshadow base/primer you use to keep your shadows from budging.  Thank you for reading!

OOTD: The MAX Amount of Floral Possible (video).

Today was honestly a rough day, commute wise.  Click the photo above to see my OOTD video!  I woke up already feeling in a blue mood because I woke up to pouring rain and thats never fun.  I contemplated rolling over and staying home for the entire day, but I immediately rationalized that it wouldn't work because guess what I had to do today?  WORK, LOL.  #joke.

So to turn my mood around I did nothing other than take to my closet.  I had been thinking about what I was going to wear the night before without looking at the weather or my closet and came to the conclusion that I would wear the floral maxi-dress that I got from Forever 21 a couple of weeks ago, and thats what ended up happening.  I really like the dress, the pattern is adorable and the back is what I like the most.  The spaghetti straps and low back are so cute and they expose my back tattoo that is really small and on the top of my back (it doesn't normally get seen).  Sense I was wearing this to the office, I didn't want to wear it without a cardigan, so I just wore my plain black open cardigan from J. Crew that I think I got last year or something.

My watch is my rose gold Michael Kors and my shoes are jelly flats (!!!) from Steve Madden.  I 100% adore these shoes and I don't get to wear them very often.  They are not uncomfortable but they make the most obnoxious noise when you walk, even when you are walking correctly.  I don't really know how else to explain it.  I love them regardless.

What did you guys wear today?  It was pouring rain here at my house, to the point where my street was flooded and when I got into the office, there was no rain at all.  Everyone in the city was looking at me weird because I was wearing full on rain boots and there wasn't a drop of water there, oh well.  Let me know in the comments below or send me a tweet!  Thank you for reading.

OOTD: 8/7: Coral Catastrophe (video).

Hi everyone and thank you for watching and reading like always!  Click the photo above to view my latest OOTD video, and I hope that you enjoy.  I got this flowing neon coral cardigan from H&M a couple of weeks ago and I have been DYING to wear it since then.  The dress is just and LBD from Target that I have had for a while now and the shoes are from Steve Madden.  The watch is my rose gold Michael Kors watch and the bracelet is by Jilzara.

My hair was an absolute hot mess today so lets try and ignore that!  Check out the video and let me know what you think.  What have you all been wearing lately?  Leave a comment below or send me a tweet.  The weather has been changing here a little bit, I can feel fall in the air!  Subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can stay updated with my videos and look for another later this week!

Coral FloRAL.

I've done this manicure before but I wanted to put more of a summery spin on it.  I love this coral color from the same brand of polish that I posted yesterday, Pixi.  It's always fun to reinvent something that you've done before, especially when you're craving something new.  Using a design that you've previously done makes it easier to create/recreate and invent something new at the same time.  Go ahead and take a look at what I have for you today!

I hope you enjoy the design and recreation.  Check out my YouTube channel for some OOTD's that will be coming out this week and be sure to subscribe.  I hope you liked this spin on an older design.  Send me a tweet and let me know what you have been doing on your nails.  Thanks for reading!

Manicure Monday: Metallic Mermaid.

We all know about the "Mermaid Trend" that has been gracing us with it's presence but to be honest with you, it's not much of a trend for me.  For my entire life, I've always loved The Little Mermaid and swimming more than anything.  If I could spend the rest of my life swimming the sea and singing, I most definitely would but being that I can't, I am going to have to just settle for nail polish that makes me feel like I'm doing it.  Whether you're a mermaid at heart or you just love a great green/blue polish, you would most definitely be interested in this color for sure.

This is three coats of the color which I found to be the best for application and final product.  I always tend to apply more than necessary though as you would know if you've read previous posts dealing with nails or Manicure Monday's.

The color is Metallic Mermaid by Pixi (or number 023).  You can find Pixi at Target or their website, Pixibeauty.com.  I always see the Pixi section with tons of different beauty items stocked in Target.

The bottle is absolutely adorable to boot, there is just something so cute about a "boutique" look to a nail polish bottle.  What have you been wearing on your nails lately?  Send me a tweet or leave me a comment below and let me know!  Thanks for reading of course.

Current Candle Crave: Water Lily and Aloe.

I sometimes put the idea in my head that having too many candles is a bad thing.  Once I spend about 5 minutes thinking about that, I ask myself why I was thinking about it in the first place.  Having a million candles is just not enough.  I have really always wanted to write about the candles that I have loved on my blog, and I have before, but I think I want to make this a series.  With that being said, I am thrilled to have this candle be the first one.

This is Water Lily and Aloe and I purchased it from Target.  The scent reminds me of Autumn from Bath and Body works and aside from Eucalyptus Mint, Autumn is my favorite candle from Bath and Body Works.  The scent is very calm and relaxing and a little deeper/amber-infused.  The only thing I would say about the candle is that it does burn a little unevenly, but that doesn't really bother me.  I enjoy the scent of the candle so much on a rainy day, a hot sunny evening or a chilly night.

What kind of candles have you been burning lately?  I'm not sure if you are obsessed with them like I am, but I would love to know!  Send me a tweet or leave a comment below.

Summer Lunch.

So while I have significantly changed my diet over the past year and have gotten myself a lot healthier, I never like to skimp out on more "indulgent" recipes.  I will most likely be talking a lot more about how I changed my diet/exercise/life in general in another series, so this is going to be a little bit more brief.  I wanted to share with you a really delicious little lunch that I have created recently!

I am absolutely crazy about avocado.  I will probably put avocados on anything: eggs, any type of sandwich, a piece of bread for a snack, ANYTHING.  Here, I used a light english muffin that is 90 calories (!!!!) for the bread.  The taste is absolutely delicious and I tend to favor it more than any other type of english muffin.  I toasted the muffin and used a very little bit of olive oil mayo just on the top.  I sprinkled some black pepper on top of the mayo and was ready to layer on the delicious ingredients.

Stacked on the inside is a slice of tomato, fresh romaine lettuce and a couple of slices of avocado.  The sandwich is absolutely perfect for lunch if you want to eat it by itself or with a small salad or other side option.  This fresh sandwich is a spin on the traditional sandwich with heavier meats and other things that aren't the healthiest of options.  The first bite is a perfect crunch and when you're done, you will be full!

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you, the second juice I ever had made with my juicer!  I cannot even tell you how obsessed I am with my juicer and there will definitely be another post about it.  This is just a simple, FRESH orange juice.  All I did was peel two oranges and throw them in the juicer until they were completely juiced.  Put some ice in a glass and you are set to enjoy an amazing, fresh orange juice and combined with the sandwich you just cannot go wrong!  You of course have to make sure you are sipping from a straw too, it just feels so right.

Well thank you everyone for reading my first kind of, "food post."  I want to be doing more of this because I really enjoy talking about healthy food and ways to recreate things.  Being that I am a lot healthier now than I used to be, I would love to let you know how I got here and how I plan to stay in this amazing part of my life health-wise.  Thank you, of course, so much for reading.  Send me a tweet and let me know what you like to eat and drink for a nice fresh lunch.

OOTD 8/1: Green with envy (video).

Hi everyone!  I wanted to share with you guys what I was wearing yesterday.  I decided to go with a big patterned top with stars from Forever 21.  I recently purchased this top and it immediately caught my eye because it was conveniently placed in with the American Flag themed section and lets be honest, Brittany loves anything American themed and we all know this.  ANYWAY.. there's just something about the pattern that I love for summer and I can probably wear it into fall, too.  I can see myself pairing it with a longer cardigan and some leggings or something and nice cosy boots!

The skirt is darling.  I actually picked this up on an amazing deal from GAP about a week ago.  I think the price tag was a little under $7, no joke!  I love the Kelly green color, I think it's perfect for exactly this time of year.  The combination of the printed shirt with this cute skirt was perfect and it actually matched my mood that day.  Do you guys ever do that (match your clothes with your mood)?

Last but not least, although you cannot see it in the snapshot of the photo from the video, I am wearing these adorable Candies shoes that I got at Kohls in the beginning of the summer.  I featured them in my Fourth of July lookbook and I think they are adorable.  What I will say about them though is that they aren't very comfortable to be wearing all day long.  I wore them for literally about 15 hours and I was so thrilled to be taking them off at the end of the day.  Even sitting, they weren't that comfortable for some reason.  They are so adorable and I LOVE the look, but eh, not that comfortable.

Well everyone, I hope you liked this quick little outfit of the day post and video.  Subscribe to my Youtube so that you can be sure to see all of the videos that I post.  I hope to be posting a lot more sit down videos talking about some products and outfits, trends and more this month so stay tuned for that!  Thank you for reading, watching and tweeting!
