Regrettably so, skincare has not always been the most
important thing to me. Now for most people out there, that is probably the
scariest sentence you’ve ever read. If you’ve been with me for a while, you’d
know that ever since I was younger, I have had eczema. Eczema, at some levels
(mine), is an extremely painful skin condition that causes redness, swelling,
irritation and more, that is basically completely out of your control. READ MORE>
I spent nights as a kid going to be with socks on my hands
and Doctor-prescribed medication soaked into my hands. This was in hopes that I
would wake up in the morning as good as new. Never really worked. Now in my
older age, eczema has come back in many different forms. Most horribly, on my
face.
You can ask anyone who spends time with me, my skin has
always been a bone of contention for me. It seems like everything I do doesn’t
help. Rightfully so, I should probably see a dermatologist more often, ahem, in
general. Anyway…
The eczema has become a problem mainly on my face because it
causes huuuuuuuge dry and red patches. I not only feel disgusting, but look
gross and feel extremely unprofessional at work. I am not a big applicator of
makeup, specifically foundation/concealer, and thank god because with this
eczema, I can’t even wear it. I’ve spent days with a swollen, painful face and
it has been horrible.
Another place my eczema has shown up more robustly this year
has been my legs. This has been something I’ve never experienced before and I
can’t quite put my finger on why.
This past winter has been a huge stepping-stone for me and
it is what has lead me to write this post. I took a newfound interest and
obsession in skincare. Some may say too little, too late (and to an extent I
agree), but it’s a step in the right direction for me.
Take a look at some of these amazing skincare products that
I have been loving for the past couple of months. Some newer than others, but
that’s all a part of it right? Trying new things (some of them I’ve written
about before). Three cheers for that! Keep in mind, all of these products have
been fabulous for my extremely sensitive skin. So if that’s where you are, or
what you’re looking for, this might be for you.

Eye Masks
Can I be 100% honest here? I always thought eye masks were bullshit.
And to be honest, I kind of stilllll think they are a little bit. That being
said, these Shark Fin and Collagen Eye Masks have been very relaxing and moisturizing
for me. I don’t do these as often as I probably should, but when I do I feel
like the experience just makes me feel calm, maybe therefore helping my skin. I’m
not mad at it to be honest.

Cleansing & Toning
Now I’m sure I’ll get some sort of hate, or told I’m doing
something wrong, but let’s get started. For cleansing, I’ve been 100% obsessed
with this Nature’s Republic Snail Foaming Cleanser. I think I may have talked
about this before, but it deserves to be spoken about again. I have a hard time
finding a cleanser that is moisturizing, but deep cleans at the same time.
Anyone else? This one does just that! I always feel like it strips my face
clean, but in the best way possible. Not to harm it, because when I get out of
the shower, it feels completely moisturized. That’s how I know it’s not harmful
and super moisturizing. It doesn’t help that it’s about $5 and smells great.
For toner, this is a new favorite for me. I’m fairly new to
Mario Badescu products, as I’ve only really used the drying lotion before. This
toner though is great for me. It feels extremely natural and not too potent for
my skin. I often find that using something that is deeply routed with witch
hazel or too strong, kills my face and hurts my skin. This toner is awesome
because it really doesn’t smell like anything, feels amazing because it has
aloe in it, and it does the job. It even removes dirt that either cleanser may
have missed, or just sits on top of the skin regardless.

Post Cleansing
Although my routine is nowhere near as close to those 12
step routines you see on the blogs and Instagram, it’s definitely evolving. Eye
cream? I can’t believe I’m actually using it ROUTINELY now. This is the Etude
House Moistful Collagen eye cream and it’s everything you’ve ever wanted and
more (moisturizer wise). I remain on the quest to find something that will
improve my dark circles (my aunt tells me I’ll never find anything), but this
eye cream is SO moisturizing and feels SO great on my skin. I use it at night
and wake up with skin feeling soft as a baby’s bum.
The FAB Moisturizer is perfection. I’ve talked about this
for years I feel like, so there’s not much new to say about it BUT, coupled
with everything else in my new skincare routine, this is the icing on the cake.
Let’s be honest, this Cosrx Snail Mucin, I have no idea what
it actually does. I should probably research it. My aunt told me to use and it,
and being that she has the most beautiful skin I’ve ever seen, I listened. It
clearly helps immensely. Coupled with the rest of my routine, my skin has never
been better.
I hope you enjoyed some insights into my skincare routine
that I’ve been loving the winter/past few months. Let me know what I’m missing
or must try! I would love to hear and am always looking for things that will
work with my finicky/sensitive skin.
Thanks for reading! Xoxo-Brit
