DEEP CUT GARDENS | MIDDLETOWN, NJ

So whether you have been following me for a long time or you just found my Instagram account/blog today, one of the first things you will notice about me is that my love for flowers is infinite. There are very few things in this world that give me more peace and happiness than flowers. Second to that are succulents and cacti.

I think it's because they are so beautiful and represent things that are natural and simple, but at the same time have so much complexity. Does that make any sense at all? I don't care.

For the longest time, I have been hearing about this beautiful place called Deep Cut Gardens that is close enough to where I live that I could go on a weekend day for an hour or two and explore. I had heard there was a gorgeous rose garden, a koi pond, a bonsai garden and a succulent greenhouse. Peace overload.

Let me say no more other than the fact that today, I went. Come on the journey with me.

TAKING FLIGHT IN FLORAL | STYLE

So if you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you'll know that I am so beyond obsessed with flowers. Pretty much any variety of flower in any color, any shape, any size. I just find such a relaxing beauty and inspiration within them, that it always makes me feel happy and calm. I am always snapping pictures of impressive flowers that I am lucky enough to pass by daily while walking to my office. If you don't know, on 28th street in Manhattan there's something magical called the Flower District. This is where a bunch of wholesale (and retail) locations sell the absolute most beautiful flowers I have ever seen

I have always dreamed of an opportunity to walk down this block DAILY, ON MY WAY TO WORK. Even if you have the most stressful day in the world, you know you started it looking at color and life. Also, you know that you'll see it again the next day. It's always reassuring to know that you have something so beautiful and positive to look at.

I've been trying to figure out a way to show how the colors of these flowers influence my life through my outfits. Let me try and take you on a journey to through the Flower District of Manhattan.

COMING UP ROSES | FLATIRON IN FLORAL

If I could swim in flowers I would. If my life consisted of picking, growing and watering flowers all day long and arranging them, I would be the happiest person in the entire world. If I could make and wear flower crowns all day long, my heart would just combust with joy. Now that we've established that right now it's just impossible to have any of those tasks as my job, I'll have to just settle for taking a walk through the Flower District on my way to actual work. Notice I said for now.

NOTES OF NEIGHBORHOOD 5

It has been absolutely beautiful in the city lately and I just cannot get enough. I often walk through the flower district and just think about how much of a tourist that I look like taking pictures of almost every single flower that I see. I don't really care though because I just think they're that beautiful and I want to remember those moments forever.  Here are a couple of recent pictures I look and I hope you love them just as much.

NOTES OF NEIGHBORHOOD 3 | A FLORAL FRIENDSHIP

Okay so I know I've been heavy on the neighborhood/floral posts this week (meaning I've done two), but I just can't get enough.  When it's fall, things just start looking a little bit different, in a good way.  I was walking the dog and I just couldn't help but take a few of these gorgeous shots.  Check 'em out.

Rainy Day DIY: Flower Chandelier

I have to say, I'm always a sucker for almost anything DIY.  Not to mention if it has to do with flowers, I almost instantly fall in love. A third bonus? LACE!  I found this idea on Arlyne Sanjines YouTube channel in one of her room decor videos and I instantly loved it.  My first though was about how cute it was and the second thought was about how SIMPLE it seemed to be to make.

I must admit, it took longer and more materials than I thought.  I had to run back to the craft store for more ribbon, so make sure you get enough the first time!  Also, make sure you go to the craft store to buy all of your materials!  I say this because I tried looking at target and found the crochet circle there for about $6, the one I ended up using I found at the craft store for a little over $2.

Simple Floral Spring Decor

I've become re-obsessed with Plain T from Eataly and I haven't been able to get enough lately.  Whenever I can get a chance to stop in there and pick one up, I always do.  I couldn't help but think about what I can do with the bottles because to me they are just so pretty.  I know the tea is bottled in the Hamptons so this summer I'm hoping to maybe go see where they bottle it.

So I came up with this adorable little craft idea in the meantime until I can do something even better.  It's really simple to do and very inexpensive because all you need to do is purchase the flowers that you want for the bottle turned vase.  I got these springy flowers because they just made me so happy and made me think of warmer weather (which thank god we are seeing more of these days).

First you're going to make sure you clean out the bottles really well.  Once you've done that, you're going to also want to make sure you add enough water and the plant food in BEFORE you place the flowers in.  I made this mistake so I wanted to make sure I shared it with you.

These are the flowers that I chose.  They are so simple and beautiful and just scream spring to me.

I also ended up using all but one of the dozen flowers that I got for ONE tea bottle, so if you want to make sure you have enough for one bottle, get two dozen flowers.  I think they came out so simply adorable.  This is perfect decor for spring without being too Eastery or overboard.

What do you think?  How do you decorate for spring?  Send me some tweets and let me know! -Brit.
