HOME DECOR | WALL MIRRORS

I've been toying around recently with how I wanted to decorate my apartment. For some reason, I feel like I always have it down pat the way I want it done - beachy, lots of wicker and rattan, light colors. Then, I randomly get targeted on Instagram by this beautiful jewel toned, heavy on the gold living room and I want everything. Woah is me.

That being said, I have been trying for a while now to at least narrow it down. Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted a "beachy vibe for my first home." Now that my "first home" has come and gone and I am in my second apartment, I still have yet to completely achieve what I actually want. It has started to manifest itself in pieces like my beautiful palm leaf curtains in my first place:

Now that I am in my new place, I have a plain, brand new canvas to start with. Everything is soooo much different than my old place (carpeting, white walls, older white tile in the kitchen, simple knobs on cabinets, light wood in the kitchen). The new place has dark cherry wood flooring, silestone snow granite countertops similar to this, backsplash similar to this, beautiful natural lighting, and carpeting only on the stairs and upstairs.

I've already started gathering some things that I want to have as a part of my decor and I have started hanging them up/styling them. It has, even though it's going so slowly, started making me feel better. Some of those things include these gorgeous Sophia Rae mirrors. They are SO cute and were completely unexpected.

The story goes like this. I was on a completely unanticipated T.J. Maxx trip with my friend and we were just basically walking around aimlessly. We had absolutely NOTHING on our minds to purchase except MAYBE a new yoga mat? We got to the back of the store where all the home decor usually is and I spotted a beautiful wicker/rattan mirror. I went over to it to examine it closer, because from afar it looked to good to be true. Even better? The price when I looked at the back of the box. $20 for the large mirror, $25 for the the series of three mirrors that I chose to stack.

I knew I had to have these. They fit my aesthetic so well and I was so excited to hang them somewhere in my apartment. I didn't know where at first. I decided where the three smaller mirrors would go initially, faster. The front entryway which is pretty small, needed a little something. I struggled with the area because it is a smaller spot, I didn't want to over crowd it. I wanted something that either brought more light to the space, or was just not TOO much of a statement in a small space. This was perfect.

I ultimately decided that I was going to hang the larger mirror at the end of my staircase. I couldn't believe how perfect it ended up looking there. At first I thought there were just so many places for me to put it. It was overwhelming because I loved the piece so much that I overthought where to put it. I just wanted it to look perfect where it was. I was so happy at the end of the day because in the weirdest way, it does bounce light and is perfect for a check at your look at the end of the steps. ;)

All in all, I am so happy that this was kind of the first foray into decoration for me in this apartment. It makes me so happy. I don't know what is going to come next - but here's a start. What kind of style do you guys have for decor? This is mine! If you have any wicker/rattan suggestions, please let me know! Leave a comment or connect with me on social: Twitter | Instagram
